Montville is a township in Morris County located in the state of New Jersey. It has a population of about 21,528 people. Montville was named 2013 Best Places to Live rankings, as number 13th of the nation, which was the second highest among the three places in New Jersey included in the top 50 list by Money Magazine. Montville was ranked number 17 in 2011 and #13 back in 2007.

Montville township had a total area of about 19 square miles, which includes about 18.5 square miles of land and about 0.6 square miles of water. Some unincorporated communities, located partly or even completely within the township include;o Lake Valhalla, Lower Montville, Horse Neck Bridge, and Pine Brook to name a few places. The lowest temperature that was recorded in Montville is -25 degrees as of February of 1943. The highest temperature that was recorded was 105 degrees which was in July of 1936 and again in July of 2011.

The Montville township School District serves public schools for students in preK through twelfth grade. During the 2012-13 school year the districts seven schools had enrolled about 4,026 students and about 363 classroom teachers. In the school district are five different elementary schools including Cedar Hills Elementary, Hilldale Elementary School, William H. Mason, Jr. Elementary School, Valley View Elementary School, and Woodmont Elementary School. As well as Robert R. Lazar Middle School, and Montville Township High School.
