About Butler NJ
 

Butler is a borough located in Morris County in the state of New Jersey. The population here is about 7,539 people. Butler was originally called West Bloomingdale and was sparsely populated. Butler had one of its largest fires in February of 1957, which was one of the nations largest rubber reclaiming mills, known as Pequanoc Rubber Company on Main Street, was destroyed by a blaze which was estimated to have caused a loss of about $3 million dollars at the time. This mill was on upper Main Street and produced 100 tons of reusable sheet rubber daily. The fire was remembered as being so bright that one resident stated that could of read a newspaper in her yard at 3 am at a distance of a mile. This glow was reportedly visible or 100 miles, and mutual aid was required by volunteer fire companies from a dozen different fire companies.

Butler has a total area of about 2,089 square miles. The Butler Public schools enrolls students in pre kindergarten through twelfth grade. As of the 2011-2012 school year the three schools in the district had an enrollment of about 1,130 students. Other schools in the district include Aaron Decker School which is for grades preK-fourth, which enrolls about 369 students; Richard Butler School, for grades fifth through eighth and enrolled about 280 students, and Butler High School for grades nine through twelve and enrolled about 481 students. Students that live in or near Bloomingdale attend Butler High School as part of a sending and receiving relationship with the Bloomingdale School District. Butler also had a Catholic School called St. Anthony of Padua School, but was closed in 2012 after serving the community for 130 years. The Zipcode in Butler is 07405.
