About Boonton NJ
 

Boonton is a town in Morris County located in the state of New Jersey. It has a population of about 8,347 people, which was decline of about 149 people from the 2000 census. Boonton was established on the Rockaway River, about a mile and a half downstream from the current site of the town. Back in 1747 there was an iron refining forge in Boonton. The iron ore and charcoal that was available in the are together with water power from the river. Once the ironworks grew, workers along with their families ended up forming a community in 1761 that was then named Boone-Towne in honor of the Colonial Governor. Boonton was reincorporated and became fully independent on March 18, 1867.

Some interesting spots in Boonton include Grace Lord park, which has recreation opportunities, such as hiking trails as well as a view of Boonton Falls. Greenwood Cemetery is here as well. The Boonton Holmes Public Library has been around since 1894. The library was placed on the National Register of Historic places, on November 30, 1972.
